Foolstop began in 2007, when Sebastian Lambeck set out to create a space for music beyond clear boundaries. Still based in Hannover, Germany at the time, he started writing and developing songs with a close friend — and within weeks, the project had found its name.

What initially leaned toward a folk-rock aesthetic has since grown into something far less definable. Now based in Berlin, Foolstop draws from a wide range of influences: the intimacy of singer-songwriter traditions, the expansiveness of post-rock, the textures of synth-driven music, and an increasing touch of jazz. The result is a sound that resists easy categorization while remaining unmistakably personal.

Following the release of the double album Sound(e)scapes, Lambeck continues to work on new material, further exploring this evolving musical language — deliberately unconcerned with genre, and committed instead to atmosphere, depth, and emotional resonance. Yes, more music is always on the way.
